About
Me
My name is Linda Jenkinson and I have been birdwatching for over 20 years. People often ask me how I became interested in birds -
well, I’m sure that I was born with it. I can remember drawing and writing about birds from an early age. It only took someone to
take me out with a pair of binoculars and I was hooked for life.
I have worked with conservation organisations such as the Leeds
Urban Wildlife Group; the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and the
RSPB Leeds Local Group. During my time with my colleagues on the RSPB Leeds
committee I organised indoor events, coach outings and weekend trips to a variety of locations around the UK. I also worked on the
bi-annual newsletter and the group’s web pages.
Out of this came the exciting opportunity to become a tutor in the adult education sector. So far I have taken almost 60 adults
through a 25 week course either through the college or on a freelance basis. I’ve featured their feedback throughout these web pages.
In 2010 my classes were featured in the
Yorkshire Post in an article by journalist Roger Ratcliffe
As well as
teaching birdwatching, I am a qualified life coach. One of my specialist areas is getting people to reconnect to their natural
surroundings. I believe that the pace of modern life is disconnecting us from our ability to achieve our true potential. I find my
focus by being outdoors and watching wildlife. Interested? If so, you can visit my website
