We’ll check the woodland, hedgerows and pools for birds such as bullfinch, linnet, whitethroat, little egret, snipe and hobby. We’ll also look for the first autumn migrant birds. What to expect Easy walking on flat ground but paths can be muddy in places. There are no hides or toilets at the nature reserve. Toilets are available at nearby RSPB Old Moor. Note for beginners If you’re struggling to see birds through your binoculars, you’ll learn quickly how to use them with speed and accuracy and discover some useful techniques for watching birds in the field. You’ll also learn how to identify birds by their songs and calls.Please don’t buy binoculars especially for the trip as these can be provided on request. What to wear Bring layers in case of bad weather and waterproof outer clothing including coat, over-trousers and sturdy waterproof boots.
