Bempton above and below (including Glorious Gannets cruise) Study our largest seabird both on the sea and at their breeding grounds by taking a 3 hour cruise on the Yorkshire Belle out of Bridlington with the RSPB followed by a visit to RSPB Bempton Cliffs. You’ll be able to watch gannets diving for fish and also tending their chicks on the tiny ledges at Bempton. You’ll also be able to see beautiful puffins through a high powered telescope as well as guillemots, razorbills, fulmars and kittiwakes. What to expect Three hour cruise from Bridlington Harbour (toilets available on the Yorkshire Belle). Short cafe stop in Bridlington followed by a visit to RSPB Bempton Cliffs with easy walking on flat ground. Paths will be muddy in places. Facilities are available at Bempton Cliffs. Note for beginners If you’re struggling to see birds through your binoculars, you’ll learn quickly how to use them with speed and accuracy and discover some useful techniques for watching birds in the field. You’ll also learn how to identify birds by their songs and calls.Please don’t buy binoculars especially for the trip as these can be provided on request. You’ll be able to get advice about binoculars, what to buy and the best places to make a purchase. What to wear You may need to wear base layers (thermal vests and leggings) depending on the weather. Bring a fleece and walking trousers. Please don’t wear jeans as they will wick moisture from low growing vegetation. Bring a waterproof coat, over-trousers and sturdy, waterproof boots, scarf, gloves, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent and plenty of water.
