The late summer months are a quiet time for birdsong but a good time to start learning the songs of robin and wren. Listen for communication calls from great tit, mistle thrush, goldcrest, nuthatch, great spotted woodpecker and treecreeper and explore the surrounding habitat for other species. Price £15 per person including refreshments. Transport No transport for this session. We will meet at 8:50am in the main Golden Acre Park car park on Otley Road (A660). What to expect Easy walking on made up paths. Be prepared for muddy ground. There are toilets at Golden Acre Park. Note for beginners If you’re struggling to see birds through your binoculars, you’ll learn quickly how to use them with speed and accuracy and discover some useful techniques for watching birds in the field. You’ll also learn how to identify birds by their songs and calls.Please don’t buy binoculars especially for the trip as these can be provided on request. You’ll be able to get advice about binoculars, what to buy and the best places to make a purchase. What to wear Wear plenty of layers and waterproof outer clothing including over-trousers and sturdy boots. No jeans please as they will wick moisture from low growing vegetation. Scarf, gloves and hat will be needed and you may also need sunscreen and insect repellent.
