This visit to the wonderful Rodley Nature Reserve is tagged onto their special events day and combines optional pie and peas and fungus foray. Our guided birdwatching walk will run for 2 hours from 9am to 11am. We’ll watch birds on the lagoons, woodland and hedgerows and look for kingfisher, little grebe, reed bunting, little owl and winter visiting wildfowl. Price £15 per person including refreshments. Transport For this trip we meet at the nature reserve but contact linda@startbirding.co.uk to discuss transport options. What to expect Easy walking on flat ground but paths could be muddy in places. Facilities are available at the reserve. Note for beginners If you’re struggling to see birds through your binoculars, you’ll learn quickly how to use them with speed and accuracy and discover some useful techniques for watching birds in the field. You’ll also learn how to identify birds by their songs and calls.Please don’t buy binoculars especially for the trip as these can be provided on request. You’ll be able to get advice about binoculars, what to buy and the best places to make a purchase. What to wear Wear plenty of layers to keep out the chill. Please don’t wear jeans as they will wick moisture from low growing vegetation. Bring a waterproof coat, over-trousers and sturdy, waterproof boots, scarf, gloves, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent and plenty of water.
