Get outdoors with the kids this autumn and learn about the birds that visit St Aidan’s nature reserve. Meet at Rivers Meet Café at 1pm and walk to St Aidan’s causeway, looking and listening for birds along the way. Children will be able to take part in activities to develop their identification skills including the chance to look at birds through a high powered telescope. A list of birds seen on the session will be provided on request. This birdwatching session is aimed at children from school age. All children must be accompanied by an adult (we suggest a maximum of 2 children per adult). Please note that binoculars are not included. Price Price for the 2 hour session is £9 per child which includes refreshments for children at Rivers Meet.  There will be a chance to look at eggs, nests and feathers at the café and to ask bird related questions Meeting up Meet outside Rivers Meet Cafe in Methley at 12:50. What to expect Easy walking on made up paths. Be prepared for muddy ground. Toilets are available at the cafe. There are plenty of ‘natural’ facilities on site. Binoculars are not provided. What to wear Wear or bring plenty of layers and waterproof clothing. Please don’t wear jeans as they will wick moisture from low growing vegetation. Bring a waterproof coat, over-trousers and sturdy, waterproof boots. Scarf, gloves and a hat are essential. Join me on more trips and learn about each bird’s story whether it migrates or stays in the UK the time of year when it can be seen the types of habitats preferred by different species how birds adapt to their environment.
