One of the common problems experienced when watching birds is how to interpret the anatomy of a bird when perched compared to when it is flying. This indoor session looks at the structure of a bird’s wing and how markings and individual feathers are perceived when the wing is folded. You’ll get the opportunity to hold bird wings and to look at some interesting feathers. You’ll also learn how moult and weather affects the appearance of plumage in the field.
